Securing your hardware

Our hardware is strong, but any piece of dungeon hardware is only as strong as the screws and bolts that hold it down.

We provide construction screws for our smaller hooks and loops, but these are the minimum recommended attatchment. Consider using bigger screws if your furniture or wall can take it, or small hardened bolts if you can. Our larger pieces have 3/8 inch or larger bolt holes, these pieces should be attatched with bolts that go clear through whatever you are bolting to, with lock washers and nuts on the other side.

Make sure that you choose the largest bolt or screw you can accommodate when attatching dungeon hardware of any kind. If you are unsure about installing your hardware, please email us and we'll help you out.

Positioning your hooks and loops is also very important. Most hooks and loops are strongest when the force on them is not pulling directly outward on the screws. Place hooks such that the force on them will be paralell to the surface it is mounted on, and away from the screws. Loops with screws on either end are more versatile, but be sure they are not placed such that force is applied from side to side. If you need hardware that is very strong at a wide range of angles, choose the heavy versions and secure your piece with good quality hardened bolts.
